EAPRIL Cloud 8 webinar: 'inclusive education: higher and vocational education'

Cloud 8 ‘Diversity and equality in different contexts’ held a successful webinar on March 24th, 2023 about 'inclusive education: higher and vocational education'. The webinar aimed to stimulate discussion ahead of the annual conference and the conference proposal deadline. The event was free for all participants and using EAPRIL's registration system and online conference platform- our thanks go to Lore and the EAPRIL Office team for all their help in organizing and promoting the event.

Nick Gee (Birmingham City University, UK and EAPRIL chair) opened the webinar with his presentation ‘Thinking in 3D… beyond the text book ethos of inclusive practice’ that mapped out a journey linking thought to feeling and action to impact to allow a deeper understanding of what it really means to be truly inclusive. Sibel Inci (Kocaeli University, Türkiye and joint coordinator of EAPRIL Cloud 8) spoke on the topic of ‘Enhancing Preservice Teachers' Perspectives on Inclusion’ illustrating how an intervention could affect preservice teachers' opinions on inclusion and the implications for professional formation and development. The third presenter was Kirsty Ruthven (Head of Education, Lifting Limits CIO, UK) whose presentation entitled 'Working with teachers: Gender equality in and through education' shared more about the work of the Lifting Limits charity with early years and primary school teachers in England.

The webinar ended with a short discussion led by the webinar chair Anthony Thorpe (University of Roehampton and joint coordinator of EAPRIL Cloud 8) about possible collaborations as well as plans for the annual EAPRIL conference in November 2023. We hope these discussions will be continued on the Cloud 8 LinkedIn group and there will be a good number of conference submissions for Belfast on the Cloud 8 themes. Our thanks to all the presenters, participants and to Lore and the EAPRIL Office team for all their help in organizing and promoting the event.
