Take part in our reading club May 25th!

During the conference in Nijmegen 2022 we had an interesting session in which we discussed the main issues we see in teacher education in Europe. These issues are: student teachers’ professional (identity) development; student teachers agency; inquiry/research based learning in teacher education; and relation between teacher education institutes and workplace.

During the session we discussed issues like: how to stimulate an inquisitive mind within our student teachers, the importance of digital learning and digital transformation, the challenge to look at the ‘ideal teacher profile’ we want to realise, and the importance of an open curriculum and agency for student teachers concerning their learning.

The participants in the session shared their plans for the ‘future’. Some of the participants are going to work together on the subject of workplace learning in teacher education and mentoring, others on digital transformation, on sharing practices how to ‘manipulate student teachers’ or to focus on the development of a teacher profile.

One of our plans was to start a ‘reading club’, in which we read and discuss an interesting article in our field of teacher education. We would like to invite you for the first session on Thursday 25 May 15.30 – 17.00 (CET). Please contact us or leave a comment for receiving an MS Teams-invitation (t.adams@fontys.nl / b.koster@fontys.nl). During this session, we will discuss the interesting work of Antoine Lecat, Isabel Raemdonck, Simon Beausart and Virginie Marz: The what and why of primary and secondary school teachers’ informal learning activities

Finally, we hope that during the conference in November 2023 in Belfast a lot of interesting session will be held concerning the theme of this cloud ‘Teacher Education’ and that a lot of people will join our cloud session.
